  • South Carolina Home Educators Association, while promoting a Christian world view, is organized to provide service and support to home educators, accountability groups and support groups within South Carolina, including but not limited to the following ways:
  • Providing information regarding the state and national laws, as well as pending legislation and court cases, which may have an impact on home education.
  • Educating the general public and government officials about the Constitutional right of parents to home school, and the benefits of home education, in order to protect the future of home education in South Carolina.
  • Aiding the creation and growth of home education support groups throughout South Carolina.
  • Providing information and training to home educating parents and member groups through conventions, workshops, seminars, lectures, and/or newsletters.
  • Reviewing and disseminating home education materials and information concerning home education seminars, workshops, and related events.
  • Actively working to protect the future freedoms of home education in South Carolina.
  • Supporting home education by research and its publication.

Groups may join any time during the year; membership being due for renewal at the end of the eleventh month from month of processing. New members are added to the mailing list as they are received @ $15.00 per member. Requests to add new members at the discount rate must be in writing with the accompanying fee. Membership cards will be mailed in two to three weeks.

Dear Homeschool Group Leader:

Enclosed are the documents you will need to join South Carolina Home Educators Association (SCHEA) as a member group. Group membership will be accepted any time during the year. Membership will be due for renewal at the end of the eleventh month from month of processing. The name, address, phone number, and email address of each family joining SCHEA through your group must be legibly listed on a separate sheet. Please remit the group list, completed group membership form, and preferably one check from your group.

The discounted group membership per family is $15.00 - a savings of $10.00 over individual family membership.

New member families may be added to the mailing list as they are received @ $15.00 per family. Requests to add new members at the discount rate must be in writing with the accompanying fee. Membership cards will be mailed in two to three weeks of membership forms being received. Please notify your members joining SCHEA to call or email the SCHEA office if they don't receive a membership card within a month after the group has submitted paperwork. We also ask that if a member moves, they contact SCHEA directly with their new address so they won't miss any newsletter issues.
